GedGap2Go Overview

GedGap2Go is a genealogy tool that can help you plan, rate and prioritise your research plan. Just import your GEDCOM file from your family tree web site or gezealogy software and GedGap2Go can:

  • Analyze and score each of your sources to reveal gaps in the reliability of your birth and death entries,
  • Prioritize individual avenues of research based on the quality of the sources upon which they’re based,
  • Determine a confidence rating in your sources based on completeness of research,
  • Provide brief tips on birth and death entries for researching,
  • Allow you to add brief notes to each entries status of research, and
  • Allow you to set flags for incomplete research to missing birth and death entries.

GedGap2Go can store data on the iCloud Drive to be shared across other mobile devices (iPhones or iPads) or data can be stored locally on the device.ᅠ In addition, you can backup or restore data stored on the iCloud drive to your device.

Please note; GedGap2Go does not currently synchronize data with GedGap.

Using iCloud Drive

The use of the iCloud drive is on by default to enable the sharing of your genealogy data across your mobile (iPad and iPhone) devices. To disable storing genealogy data on the iCloud Drive, go to Settings > GedGap2Go and move the "Store data on iCloud Drive" slider to off. To re-enable, repeat the same process but move the slider to the on position.

Restore to iCloud (iCloud Drive enabled)

Please note that the restore option will remove any GedGap2Go data stored on your iCloud Drive, prior to refreshing it with your backup data.

Use the "Switch to Device" option to review the backup data on your device prior to restoring. Use "Switch to iCloud" followed by "Restore from Device" to restore using this backup.
